Ipswich Town's new signing Luke Chambers has expressed his delight at joining the club after they beat off competition to claim his signature.
The 26-year-old was a free agent this summer after he failed to agree a new contract that would have prolonged his five-year stay at Nottingham Forest.
Championship rivals Derby County and Leeds both expressed an interest in the defender but the lure of working with Paul Jewell proved too strong to resist.
"I am delighted to be an Ipswich Town player," Chambers told the club's official website.
"I spoke to a few people in the game that know the manager and Ipswich, and they have nothing but good words to say. Coming here was a no brainer for me."
Kettering-born Chambers began his career at Northampton, where he amassed 149 first-team appearances.
He joined Nottingham Forest in 2007 and established himself as a first-team regular, making 229 appearances at the City Ground.
"There was a few clubs in for Luke but I always felt confident we would get him, and I'm delighted we have," said Jewell.
