Everton part ways with reserve team striker

Everton's reserve team striker Joao Silva has departed Goodison Park to join Bulgarian side Levski Sofia for an undisclosed fee. The Portugal Under-21 international spent two years with the Toffees but never made it into the first team and spent time on loan at Uniao Desportiva de Leiria and Vitoria FC in his homeland. His departure will make little impact on the wage bill and of greater priority to manager David Moyes will be to finally remove players like defender Joseph Yobo, who has spent the last two years on loan at Turkish club Fenerbahce. Moyes knows he has to supplement his transfer activity - with Tottenham's former Toffees midfielder Steven Pienaar the immediate priority after the arrival of forward Steven Naismith last week - by moving on some players. However, that does not mean cashing in on one of his major assets and the Scot is keen to hang on to important first-team players. And despite speculation to the contrary it is understood the club have not received any approach from Manchester United regarding left-back Leighton Baines.
