Clarke helps Devils slay Angels

Billy Clarke scored twice as Crawley got their pre-season campaign off to a winning start with a 4-0 victory over Tonbridge Angels.

Sean O'Driscoll fielded two separate teams in each half in his first match as Town manager. Midfielder Hope Akpan opened the scoring in the 18th minute when he tucked away an unselfish pull-back from Gary Alexander. Two minutes later trialist Shane O'Connor teed-up Clarke to double the lead, and the former Ipswich striker converted Sergio Torres' pass to make it three just before the break. John Akinde wrapped up a comfortable win for the League One new boys with 13 minutes remaining.
