Kean targets Baggies forward

Sky Sports understands Blackburn Rovers are in talks to sign West Brom striker Simon Cox. Rovers boss Steve Kean is determined to overhaul his squad following their relegation from the Premier League and he is hoping to bring Cox to Ewood Park. Cox, who joined West Brom from Swindon in 2009, has struggled to hold down a regular place in the Baggies side with the likes of Peter Odemwingie and Shane Long ahead of him in the pecking order. The Republic of Ireland international could be tempted to leave The Hawthorns for regular first-team football after growing frustrated with his lack of action. A number of other clubs are thought to have expressed an interest in Cox, but Blackburn are in pole position to land the forward. Kean has already brought in the likes of Leon Best and Nuno Gomes to bolster his attacking options and Cox could be the latest striker to make the switch to Ewood Park.
