Newcastle United captain Fabricio Coloccini is optimistic new signings will soon provide an added boost to the club.
Established members Yohan Cabaye and Hatem Ben Arfa have recently been welcomed to the club's squad on their pre-season tour in Germany after Euro 2012.
The return of the French duo has added to the feel-good factor among Alan Pardew's players, who have ambitions of surpassing last season's excellent fifth-placed Premier League finish.
But Coloccini hopes targets such as Lille right-back Mathieu Debuchy and Marseille striker Loic Remy could soon develop into actual signings to increase optimism at Newcastle.
The Argentine told the Newcastle Chronicle: "We'll have to wait and see, but I hope so. It is going to be interesting.
"Hatem and Yohan are back now, too. That can only boost our players here. We want to see them back and fit again."
After missing the first two games, centre-back Coloccini made his first appearance of pre-season when playing in Saturday's 1-1 draw with Fenerbahce in Ritzing.
Pardew's men conceded a last-minute equaliser, leaving Coloccini frustrated but pleased to have returned.
He said: "It was good to be back. The pitch was heavy and it was tough because of the rain.
"We were disappointed to concede a goal in the last minute. But we have to pull out the positive things.
"We just have to enjoy these pre-season games and look forward to the start of the season."
