Toure & Zabaleta target Champions League success

Manchester City duo Yaya Toure and Pablo Zabaleta are determined to make an impact in the UEFA Champions League this season. The Premier League champions failed to progress from the group stages last year after a disappointing debut campaign in Europe's premier competition. Toure admits he hopes City can fare better in the Champions League this season as well as retain their Premier League crown. "I believe we can do it again and we have to go higher," Toure told Sky Sports News. "The priority is the Premier League and go as far as possible in the Champions League. "It is important we continue to improve and we hope we can be successful this year as it is an exciting year for us and for the fans. "I have been here two years now and won two cups and now we need more and if we sign players this summer I hope they will be fantastic players."

Trophies

Argentine ace Zabaleta echoed the sentiments of Toure that they are determined to build on the success of last year by winning more trophies. "Every competition is important for us, our target is to try and win trophies this season," noted Zabaleta. "We have the Champions League. We didn't play our best in the Champions League, we know that, and maybe this year we will try and improve that work. "We had a tough group last year, but I think we have good players to do better in the Champions League."
