Former Barnsley winger looks forward to cup competition

Notts County signing Jamal Campbell-Ryce has played down the club's unbeaten pre-season form, with all eyes on the opening day of the upcoming campaign. The Jamaican international joined on a free transfer after leaving Bristol City and played 30 minutes of the Magpies' 3-2 win at Scarborough on Saturday as he continues to recover from a calf injury. County have won two and drawn two of their pre-season fixtures, as they head out to Spain for a training camp and the 29-year-old told Skysports.com that all eyes are focused on their Capital One Cup clash with Bradford. "It is always nice to do well in pre-season games, but at the end of the day you don't win anything for doing well in them, so it is all about getting the fitness levels up and preparing for the new season," said Campbell-Ryce.

Friendlies

"All eyes are on the first game of the season and if we get to that point by winning all our friendlies then great, but if not at least we'll have ourselves sharp and raring to go." The Bantams are preparing to mount a promotion challenge in League Two this season under Phil Parkinson, but Campbell-Ryce is determined to start the campaign off with a bang at Meadow Lane. "Bradford are still a big club, but we go into every game trying to win and the cup will be no different," he added. "It is slightly different with the cup starting before the league campaign, but I don't think it will matter too much when we get down to it."
