Blackpool boss Ian Holloway believes DJ Campbell's high wages at QPR will make it virtually impossible for the Seasiders to sign him.
Campbell has enjoyed three different spells at Blackpool in recent seasons, scoring an impressive 36 goals in 72 appearances before joining QPR last summer in a £1.2million deal.
But with the 30-year-old on the periphery at Loftus Road, Holloway
entertained thoughts of taking the forward back to the Championship.
But the 49-year-old coach now admits that Campbell's lucrative contract is likely to scupper any move.
"I don't think there's a chance in a million years we'll be able to do a deal to get DJ back," he told the
Blackpool Gazette.
"Because of how much they are paying him at the moment at QPR, it's not going to happen.
"We are about as close to re-signing DJ Campbell as there is of me wearing high heels and calling myself Sheila.
"I do apologise, I'd have loved to have brought DJ back."
Upset
Holloway is keen to add another striker to the squad with 39-year-old Kevin Phillips set to miss the Capital One Cup first-round clash at home to Morecambe on Sunday with a hamstring injury.
Morecambe boss Jim Bentley is hoping to cause an upset at Bloomfield Road but recognises his side are up against it when they take on the Seasiders.
Bentley told Morecambe's
official website: "We have had some good results in this competition over the past few years and it would be great to chalk up another good result against a team that were challenging for the Premiership last year.
"It will be tough because Blackpool have some great players, but we know we have enough in our squad to give them a tough game."
