West Brom striker Romelu Lukaku insists he does not have a score to settle with his former Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas.

On-loan West Brom striker concentrating on the future

Romelu Lukaku insists he does not have a score to settle with his former Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas when West Brom meet Premier League rivals Tottenham this weekend. Lukaku joined the Baggies on a season-long loan move from Chelsea last month and immediately labelled his first year at Stamford Bridge, after being signed by current Spurs boss Villas-Boas from Belgian club Anderlecht last summer, as a "waste of time". The Belgium international, 19, found first-team opportunities limited under the Portuguese, making only substitute appearances before he was handed his first Premier League start by Villas-Boas' successor Roberto Di Matteo. Now Lukaku is determined to prove he has the ability to succeed in the top flight - and wants to make an impact when West Brom travel to White Hart Lane on Saturday.

"This is West Bromwich Albion playing Tottenham - not me playing Andre Villas-Boas," Lukaku said. "I don't really look at Andre Villas-Boas and wonder what he is thinking. "He is in a new job now and hopefully he can do well with that club, but we go there hoping to get a result this week." He added: "What happened last season was very much last season. I don't think there is any player in the world who hasn't had downs as well as ups. "I want to show people that this club and myself are making progress and getting better."
