Promising forward pens contract extension

James Spencer has signed a new contract at Huddersfield, with fresh terms set to keep him at the club until at least the summer of 2014. A product of the Terriers' academy system, the 20-year-old's current deal was due to expire at the end of the season. He has, however, done enough to earn himself an extension and a fresh opportunity to prove his worth to Simon Grayson. Spencer has impressed during loan spells at Morecambe and Cheltenham in recent years, but is determined to become a regular at Huddersfield after featuring heavily in their pre-season schedule. "The new deal gives me reassurance about my future," he told the club's official website. "I wanted to stay at Huddersfield Town and I am delighted that a longer deal has been sorted. "I have enjoyed pre-season and I am delighted that I have been involved in the manager's plans for the opening few games."
