Huddersfield accept record offer for striker

Blackburn Rovers are set to win the race for Jordan Rhodes after their fourth bid for the striker was accepted by Huddersfield Town. Rhodes has attracted widespread interest this summer after another prolific campaign for the Terriers in League One last season. It looked like he might end up staying at the John Smith's Stadium as Huddersfield rejected a number of offers that did not meet their valuation. However, a fee has now been agreed with Blackburn ahead of Friday night's deadline and the Scotland international is set to hold talks about a move.

Paving the way

"Jordan Rhodes is set to complete a transfer from Huddersfield Town to Blackburn Rovers today for a club record transfer fee," read a statement on Huddersfield's official website. "Huddersfield Town accepted Blackburn Rovers' fourth bid of the transfer window on Wednesday afternoon, paving the way for Rhodes to discuss personal terms with the Ewood Park outfit. "The fee dwarfs the previous club record for a transfer fee received, which stood at £2.75 million." Rhodes has scored 87 goals in 148 appearances for Huddersfield since joining the club from Ipswich Town in July 2009.
