Sunderland midfielder Stephane Sessegnon has insisted that he did not want to leave the club during the summer transfer window despite reports to the contrary.
Reports in the media suggested that the 28-year-old wanted to join his old club Paris St Germain, with London duo Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur also linked with his signature.
However, Sessegnon committed his future to the Black Cats in the final days of August, signing a contract extension that will see him through to June 2015.
The Benin international has now said that he had no intention of leaving Sunderland in the summer.
"I have always been happy here," Sessegnon told the Sunderland Echo.
"There's been a lot written and said in the media over the summer about possible interest, but I have just continued to train and play the matches, and I think it's been clear that I have wanted to stay here.
"I was happy to sign a new contract and I will give 200 per cent to give the team the best chance of having a successful season."
