Chelsea turn it around to extend lead; QPR remain bottom

Chelsea came from behind at home to Norwich to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League to four points. Grant Holt opened the scoring at Stamford Bridge but goals from Fernando Torres, Frank Lampard, Eden Hazard and Branislav Ivanovic secured a 4-1 win. Champions Manchester City had closed the gap on the league leaders earlier in the day as they eased to a comfortable 3-0 win at home to previously unbeaten Sunderland. Goals from Aleksandar Kolarov, Sergio Aguero and James Milner, coupled with a more solid defensive display ensured three points and a first clean sheet of the campaign. In Saturday's late game, Arsenal came from behind to beat West Ham 3-1 at Upton Park. Olivier Giroud scored his first Premier League goal to cancel out Mohamed Diame's opener before substitute Theo Walcott and the impressive Santi Cazorla added to the scoresheet. Elsewhere the pressure continues to build on Queens Park Rangers manager Mark Hughes after his side were beaten 3-2 at West Bromwich Albion. Early goals from James Morrison and Zoltan Gera left the visitors with an uphill task and although Adel Taarabt pulled one back before the break Youssouf Mulumbu then extended the lead. Esteban Granero reduced the deficit once again but QPR were unable to find an equaliser and remain rooted to the bottom of the Premier League.

Denied

Reading were denied their first win of the season as they surrendered a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 at Swansea. First-half goals from Pavel Pogrebnyak and Noel Hunt looked to have won it for Brian McDermott's side but goals after the break from Michu and Wayne Routledge earned a share of the points. And David Moyes' Everton side were forced to find two equalisers to draw 2-2 at Wigan in an eventful game at the DW Stadium. The Latics started strongly with Arouna Kone heading the home side into an early lead but Nikica Jelavic levelled things up within a minute. Although Franco Di Santo then put Wigan back ahead, Leighton Baines converted a second-half penalty after Kevin Mirallas was brought down in the area.
