Luis Suarez is the only recognised striker available for the Reds following the broken foot suffered by Fabio Borini.
The Italian striker is likely to be out of action until January, and to add to Liverpool's problems England international Andy Carroll is out on loan at West Ham.
Rodgers has admitted that he is unlikely to recall Carroll from Upton Park, and it seems Suarez is likely to shoulder the burden over the coming months due to what Rodgers sees as the "unforgiving" demands of the Premier League.
"It is great for me to see the young players," said the former Swansea boss. "Adam Morgan scored a couple of excellent goals for the reserves and Samed Yesil is a goalscorer.
"It is just a case of weighing up whether they come in or not.
"Not every young player can play. This is an unforgiving league and my job is to nurture the talent and not destroy it.
"We have other players so that we may be able to have some flexibility within the team to cover for Borini."
