Sheringham undergoes foot op

Bournemouth striker Charlie Sheringham has undergone an operation in an attempt to resolve a long-running foot problem.

The injury, sustained at Brentford on Boxing Day last year, has kept the son of former England striker Teddy on the sidelines ever since and Cherries boss Eddie Howe confirmed he has gone under the knife. "Charlie has had an operation recently to remove a bit of floating bone in his ankle, so he is on crutches at the moment," Howe told the Daily Echo. "But, hopefully, that has got to the bottom of his problems. We are still expecting Charlie to be out for a couple of months but we are hopeful he will be back in good shape after this op."
