Weimann's double fired Villa into a 2-0 lead before substitute Javier Hernandez inspired United to rescue the three points with a second-half fightback.
The Austrian, who opened his account for the season on Saturday, said: "I should be happy because I scored two against United, but we lost so I don't know what to feel.
"It feels like we've lost a cup final, but the gaffer told us to keep our heads up and if we keep performing like that, we will get more wins."
Weimann was also full of praise for Manchester United's team spirit, saying: "We should have got something out of the game, but that's why they are where they are - if they are down, they always seem to come back.
"If they keep falling behind but winning, they will be champions."
