Assou-Ekotto, who has been out of action for four months with a knee problem, was back in the Spurs side as they defeated Coventry 3-0 in their FA Cup tie at White Hart Lane.
Jan Vertonghen and Kyle Naughton have impressed at left-back in Assou-Ekotto's absence but the Cameroon international has previously been in competition with the likes of Gareth Bale, Gilberto and Lee Young-Pyo for a place in the team.
And Assou-Ekotto stressed he has no worries trying to reclaim a regular starting spot.
"It's not a problem," said Assou-Ekotto.
"When I came here six years ago I was in competition with Gilberto, Lee Young-Pyo and Gareth Bale and it ended up being my place so it's not a problem."
Meanwhile, the 28-year-old insists he had no problems during his comeback game thanks to Tottenham's recent excellent form.
"It was not difficult because it is more easy to come back in to a team who are playing well," Assou-Ekotto added.
"It was easy to play. I am cool to come back and to have a win at the end of the game so it's cool for us, for the team and for me."
