Moore to monitor injured duo

Tranmere boss Ronnie Moore will continue to assess the fitness of forward duo Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro and Adam McGurk this week.

Akpa Akpro and McGurk would have missed out against Swindon on Saturday due to respective rib and hamstring problems, but the Prenton Park pitch fell foul of the cold snap. "We'll have to wait and see," Moore told Tranmere's official website at the start of preparations for Carlisle's trip to Merseyside. "McGurk won't train until Thursday and Akpa Akpro's ribs are still quite sore. "We'll just take it one step at a time but I would think both of them have a chance of being involved." One man set to remain sidelined is Rovers captain James Wallace, whose medial knee ligament injury has proved more serious than first feared. "Wallace's injury wasn't picked up when it happened, that's the disappointing thing for me," Moore added. "We were told he'd be three weeks when he had the scan. But it looks like it has been a third degree tear and not a second degree tear now and that's a 12-week injury which is where we will be in two or three weeks. "I would imagine it will be the best part of three weeks before he is ready."
