Ronald Koeman's men narrowed the gap on the Eredivisie leaders to three points after coming from behind to win at De Kuip, but it is the unsavoury scenes between Dutch pair Lens and Joris Mathijsen after the final whistle that provided the talking point.
The incident was captured on video and shows Lens approaching Feyenoord's Mathijsen and grabbing him by the shirt, seemingly in an effort to confront the defender over matters that had taken place on the field.
In an attempt to pull them apart, players and staff from both sides are seen pushing and shoving each other before order is restored.
However, that may not be the last Lens hears of the incident, with Holland's Football Association (KNVB) keen to investigate.
A spokesman told Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf: "The prosecutor will look at the incident on Monday."
PSV technical manager Marcel Brands condemned the actions of Lens, who has been given the highest possible fine by his club.
"Despite the fact that there was no aggressive attitude on the part of Jeremain, it was absolutely unwise to be there waiting for him," said Brands on the club's official website.
"He grabbed his shirt and held it, that is unacceptable. Then there was a lot of commotion in a very small space, with players and coaches from PSV and Feyenoord trying to prevent an escalation.
"The player has discredited PSV and therefore Jeremain has apologised. He gets the maximum fine imposed as punishment."
Lens, who will give his fine to charity, insists he has no lingering animosity towards his international team-mate and admits he may have overreacted.
"There were several incidents in the field. I wanted to ask Mathijsen just what he wanted to achieve," he told De Telegraaf.
"Such a fuss was not the intention. It might have been better to call him afterwards."
Lens give the league leaders a 34th-minute lead after rounding off a fluent counter-attack.
But Ruben Schaken equalised after an exchange of passes with Marcelo just after half-time and Graziano Pelle's shot on the turn in the 68th minute earned three points for the hosts.
The result saw Feyenoord close to within a point of second-placed Ajax.
