Oldham have secured the services of youngster David Mellor for another season with a year extension to his current contract.

The former Manchester United junior has made 31 appearance for the Latics over the last two seasons and will stay with the club until the end of the 2013/14 season. Having fallen out of favour under previous manager Paul Dickov, the 19-year-old midfielder has experienced an upturn in fortune since Lee Johnson arrived at Boundary Park. Mellor scored on his debut at Scunthorpe back in August 2011 and has since been utilised both in the left-back role and central midfield while also spending time on loan at non-league Chorley.
