Davis keen to re-sign Tate

Crewe boss Steve Davis will consider re-signing Alan Tate on loan in January because of the experience the Swansea man brings.

The 31-year-old defender is set to play the final game of his current loan spell on Saturday against Bristol City before heading back to south Wales at the culmination of his 93-day loan. Tate has played just six games, none of which have come since October, due to injuries but Davis pointed to the experience he brings to a young group as one of the main reasons he could return to Gresty Road. "Alan has done well when he has played and he has been fantastic around the place," Davis explained. "He has great experience and the boys look up to him and have learnt a great deal from him. "He has had a positive affect around the place and he has fitted in really well. I'm sure he has thoroughly enjoyed himself and it is something we will consider doing again in January. "He can play against Bristol City but then his loan is up. We cannot do anything again until January when the window opens again because his 93 days are up. That gives us some time to make a decision and see what Swansea wish to do as well."
