Burton duo set to depart

Experienced Burton Albion duo Ian Sharps and Lee Bell have been told they can leave the club.

Central defender Sharps and midfielder Bell, who have over 800 Football League appearances between them, have not started a game for Albion since Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink took over as manager in mid-November. Both are expected to leave the Pirelli Stadium this month as Hasselbaink reshapes his squad. "I've had, unfortunately for him - and I'm thinking about the future here - a chat with Ian Sharps," Hasselbaink told the Burton Mail. "That was a very difficult one because Ian has been very important for this club and has been one of the leaders, one of the main people at the club. "At the moment he's not playing, so I've basically told him that I would look at loans or some kind of interest for him. "I've also had a chat with Lee Bell. He wants to play, so I've made him available for the loan market or a permanent transfer. "I can't at the moment get him in the team, so I am willing to let him go. "Those are the two I've said can go out."
