Reading boss Steve Clarke is hoping for some positive injury news ahead of Saturday's clash with Sheffield Wednesday.
Danny Guthrie and Chris Gunter were missing from the side held 0-0 by Millwall on Tuesday night while Hope Akpan is close to returning after nearly three months out with a dislocated shoulder.
"Hope will see a specialist at the end of this week and if he gets the all-clear he should be back with us," said Clarke.
"Danny Guthrie has a groin strain which was initially diagnosed as seven to 10 days so he shouldn't be too far away, and Chris we will find out this week the extent and just how far away he is."
