Gerard Pique understands why team-mate Pedro is considering his future at Barcelona but believes the winger should stay at the Camp Nou.

Pedro has found first-team opportunities hard to come by following the arrival of Luis Suarez last summer, with the 27-year-old currently behind the Uruguayan, Lionel Messi and Neymar in the pecking order at Barca.

Manchester United and Liverpool are among the clubs reportedly linked with Pedro this summer, but Barca president Josep Bartomeu has confirmed the club are yet to receive a formal offer for the player, while reiterating Pedro would only be allowed to leave if a club were to trigger his 22 million euro buy-out clause.

Barcelona boss Luis Enrique has stated it's down to Pedro himself if he wants to leave, but says the Spaniard hasn't come forward with the request to leave

Pique understands why a player of Pedro's calibre may leave the club in search of regular football and believes both Barcelona and the Spanish international face a difficult decision as the two parties seek a resolution.

“What I can say is that I understand that a player like Pedro wants more minutes,” Pique said.

“He has been a world champion, he’s won many games with Barcelona and it’s a situation where there are three players ahead of him.

Barcelona's Gerard Pique says he would understand if Pedro left the Nou Camp this summer as he wants more regular football.

“We can definitely say these three players are three of the greatest players in the world, so Pedro has a big decision to make.

“Hopefully he will stay. His performances have been world class but he has to make the decision and, finally, so does the club.”
