Here, we provide a rundown of what could happen at all 20 Premier League clubs...

Arsene Wenger insists Arsenal are working hard to bring in new signings

The summer transfer window has brought a sense of deja-vu for Arsenal, whose supporters face another anxious wait for late additions. There are still question marks in defensive midfield - where they lack back-up to Francis Coquelin - and up front. Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott's struggles were laid bare against Newcastle, but Arsenal's hopes of landing Karim Benzema look remote after he pledged his future to Real Madrid. Could Arsene Wenger spring another Mesut Ozil-esque deadline-day surprise?

ASTON VILLA

Emanuel Adebayor

It has been a hectic transfer window at Villa Park, with a host of new faces arriving after the departures of key men Christian Benteke and Fabian Delph. Could Saturday's 2-2 draw with struggling Sunderland tempt Tim Sherwood into doing more business? Benteke's departure has left Villa without a proven Premier League goalscorer, and they have been linked with Tottenham outcast Emmanuel Adebayor. Sherwood admits the club are also hoping to offload Charles N'Zogbia.

Players in: Jordan Ayew (Lorient), Idrissa Gueye (Lille), Jordan Veretout (Nantes), Adama Traore (Barcelona), Jordan Amavi (Nice), Scott Sinclair (Man City), Jose Angel Crespo (Cordoba), Rudy Gestede (Blackburn), Micah Richards (Man City), Mark Bunn (Norwich), Matija Sarkic (Anderlecht), Joleon Lescott (West Brom)

Tim Sherwood says he loves watching Jim White on Sky Sports News HQ!

Tim Sherwood says: "Sitting back and looking from afar, you always wonder why people leave it so late. But it's exactly because of the domino effect. If something becomes available and we manage to move a few out we will always bring one in. But I really don't know if anything will happen. I'm happy with the squad we've got."

BOURNEMOUTH

Lewis Grabban of Norwich City

Injuries to new signings Tyrone Mings and Max Gradel against Leicester on Saturday could force Eddie Howe back into the transfer market. Dutch midfielder Jonathan de Guzman is reportedly set to join on loan from Napoli, and they are attempting to re-sign Lewis Grabban from Norwich. QPR's Charlie Austin has been linked and Crystal Palace's Glenn Murray is set for a medical at the club.

Players in: Tyrone Mings (Ipswich Town), Lee Tomlin (Middlesbrough), Max Gradel (St Etienne), Sylvain Distin (Everton), Artur Boruc (Southampton), Adam Federici (Reading), Joshua King (Blackburn Rovers), Christian Atsu (Chelsea, Loan), Filippo Costa (Chievo, Loan), Glenn Murray (Crystal Palace)

Eddie Howe says: "We will see. It is difficult, we have been chasing transfers for a while now and things take time. There is no guarantee we will add to the squad at all. We are trying but the numbers have to be right and the players have to be available."

Jose Mourinho reveals he'll be watching Deadline Day on Sky Sports News HQ

Chelsea are expected to strengthen their struggling defence before the closure of the transfer window. Everton have refused to let go of Everton's John Stones, which has forced the Blues to look elsewhere. Zenit St Petersburg's Ezequiel Garay and PSG's Marquinhos have been mentioned as possible targets. While speculation surrounding Paul Pogba refuses to go away.

Players in: Pedro (Barcelona), Baba Rahman (FC Augsburg), Asmir Begovic (Stoke), Kenedy (Fluminense), Nathan (Atletico Paranaense), Danilo Pantic (Partizan Belgrade), Radamel Falcao (AS Monaco, Loan) Papy Djilobodji (Nantes), Michael Hector (Reading)

Jose Mourinho says: "I don't speak about players from other teams. I have a good squad. I'm happy with the squad I have. If I get another player before the end of the market, good. If I don't get, we go with what we have."

CRYSTAL PALACE

Alan Pardew is relaxed about the state of his squad ahead of the transfer deadline. Interest in QPR's Charlie Austin appears to have waned, and outgoings look more likely than new signings. Palace look set to keep hold of Yannick Bolasie, but Dwight Gayle could be on his way, and newspaper reports say West Brom are keen on midfielder Joe Ledley.

Players in: Yohan Cabaye (PSG), Connor Wickham (Sunderland), Alex McCarthy (QPR), Bakary Sako (Wolves), Patrick Bamford (Chelsea, Loan)

Alan Pardew says: "There's always that period of time, two or three days before the last day where the rumour mill will go crazy. We'll be prepared for the phone to call. We don't envisage making too many calls ourselves and that's probably where we are."

EVERTON

Everton's biggest victory so far this season has been keeping John Stones from the clutches of Chelsea. They have also been linked with Brazilian playmaker Bernard.

Roberto Martinez insists the 'issue' with John Stones has been solved and he is only concerned with signing another player

Roberto Martinez says: "We've been very consistent about using the window in our favour. In terms of talking about what we spend, it's important to wait until the last day of the window."

LEICESTER

Despite a strong start to the season under Claudio Ranieri, Leicester could strengthen further before the transfer deadline. Inter Milan's Yuto Nagatomo has been linked, while Riyad Mahrez's impressive form has led to speculation linking him with Arsenal, but Ranieri insists the Algerian winger is "priceless".

Players in: Shinji Okazaki (Mainz), Yohan Benalouane (Atalanta), N'Golo Kante (Caen), Gokhan Inler (Napoli), Robert Huth (Stoke), Christian Fuchs (Schalke)

Players out: David Nugent (Middlesbrough), Chris Wood (Leeds), Paul Konchesky (QPR, Loan), Paul Gallagher (Preston), Matthew Upson (MK Dons), Tom Hopper (Scunthorpe), Adam Smith (Northampton), Kieran Kennedy (Motherwell), Esteban Cambiasso (Olympiakos), Ben Hamer (Bristol City, Loan), Ryan Watson (Northampton, Loan), Jacob Blyth (Cambridge, Loan)

Claudio Ranieri says: "We are looking around all the world. If there is some good chance then we are ready. We are looking around every position because it is important to know. Maybe it is not possible now but maybe in the next window or even next season, but we are looking."

LIVERPOOL

Fabio Borini of Liverpool
Image: Fabio Borini has joined Sunderland on a permanent deal

Brendan Rodgers has been tight-lipped on transfers this summer, but could their 3-0 loss to West Ham persuade him to dip into the market? Departures look more likely than new signings at the moment. Fabio Borini has joined Sunderland after an unsuccessful spell at Anfield, and young defender Tiago Ilori could leave on loan.

Players in: Christian Benteke (Aston Villa), Roberto Firmino (Hoffenheim), Nathaniel Clyne (Southampton), Joe Gomez (Charlton), Allan (Internacional), James Milner (Manchester City), Danny Ings (Burnley), Adam Bogdan (Bolton), Taiwo Awoniyi (Imperial Academy)

Brendan Rodgers says: "We have seven points from 12. The players will come back after the internationals and we will refocus and look to put in a much better performance away from home. If I have the squad I have got then I will be happy to work with that team."

MANCHESTER CITY

Kevin De Bruyne of Wolfsburg claps
Image: Manchester City have confirmed the signing of Kevin De Bruyne from Wolfsburg

The arrival of Kevin de Bruyne in a club record deal from Wolfsburg could spell the end of City's summer transfer activity. The Belgium international provides another option in attack for Manuel Pellegrini, whose side have taken maximum points in the Premier League so far. There is not too much more room for improvement elsewhere, with Nicolas Otamendi and Fabian Delph having already strengthened defence and midfield.

Players in: Kevin De Bruyne (Wolfsburg), Raheem Sterling (Liverpool), Nicolas Otamendi (Valencia), Patrick Roberts (Fulham), Fabian Delph (Aston Villa), Enes Unal (Bursaspor), David Faupala (Lens)

Louis van Gaal was irritated by continued questions on David De Gea's future after the defeat to Swansea

Monaco forward Anthony Martial is set to become the next big money addition at Old Trafford for a fee of £36m. Louis van Gaal will be hoping the 19-year-old can provide some much-needed firepower up front, with Wayne Rooney struggling to find form in the Premier League. David de Gea saga continues past the La Liga deadline, with a move to Real Madrid stalling at the 11th hour on Monday evening. Adnan Januzaj has sealed a season-long loan move to Borussia Dortmund, and Javier Hernandez has joined Bayer Leverkusen permanently,

Players in: Memphis Depay (PSV Eindhoven), Morgan Schneiderlin (Southampton), Matteo Darmian (Torino), Bastian Schweinsteiger (Bayern Munich), Sergio Romero (Sampdoria), Anthony Martial (Monaco)

Louis van Gaal says: "We shall not buy at the end of the transfer period a player that we haven't scouted before. We know in advance what is happening and what is not happening. It's not an issue. We have to keep on and, in January, the window is open. It is a process and I cannot change the process. It is not only dependent on the player but the club. It is a lot of things that you cannot force."

NEWCASTLE

Image: Newcastle manager Steve McClaren

Newcastle will argue they've focused on quality rather than quantity with their summer transfer activity and manager Steve McClaren appears more focused on squad cohesion than talking up the prospect of additional signings. Wolves striker Benik Afobe has been linked with the club, while Papiss Cisse has been linked with a move to Turkey but the departure of Yoan Gouffran would seem the more likely deal to go through before the window shuts.

Players in: Chancel Mbemba (Anderlecht), Aleksandar Mitrovic (Anderlecht), Florian Thauvin (Marseille), Ivan Toney (Northampton), Georginio Wijnaldum (PSV).

Steve McClaren says: "I think so, unless there is a surprise, which we cannot discount in football. We are happy with what we have now. With the quality of players that we have, we can go forward and improve."

NORWICH

Dynamo Kiev's Dieudonne Mbokani has arrived in the UK for a medical with Norwich
Image: Dynamo Kiev's Dieudonne Mbokani has arrived in the UK for a medical with Norwich

Norwich boss Alex Neil suffered his first away defeat in charge of the club against Southampton at the weekend and while the Scot insists there will be no panic moves, a striker appears to be a priority. Dynamo Kiev striker Dieumerci Mbokani could be a loan target, while Afobe and Stoke's Jon Walters remained linked with a move to Carrow Road. With Neil looking at other areas of the team too, it could be a busy deadline day for the Canaries.

Players in: Robbie Brady (Hull), Graham Dorrans (West Brom), Jake Kean (Blackburn), Youssuf Mulumbu (West Brom), Andre Wisdom (Liverpool, Loan), Dieumerci Mbokani (Dynamo Kiev)

Players out: Mark Bunn (Aston Villa), Sam Kelly (Port Vale), Remi Matthews (Burton, Loan), Cameron McGeehan (Luton), Carlton Morris (Hamilton, Loan), Jacob Murphy (Coventry, Loan), Josh Murphy (MK Dons, Loan)

Alex Neil says: "There have been hundreds of reports so I won't get drawn into one player. I wouldn't necessarily say just a striker. If we can strengthen the squad it gives us a better chance of doing well. You could ask any manager in the country and they would like to add one or two more. We are no different."

SOUTHAMPTON

Sadio Mane of Southampton
Image: Sadio Mane has attracted interest from Manchester United this summer

Saints boss Ronald Koeman has cut a frustrated figure for much of the summer with the likes of Sadio Mane and Victor Wanyama being pursued by Premier League club. Southampton's Europa League exit might mean the necessity for a larger squad this term has become less urgent and, with Jay Rodriguez back to full fitness, the focus could now be on retaining players rather than adding to the group.

Players in: Steven Caulker (QPR, Loan), Jordy Clasie (Feyenoord), Juanmi (Malaga), Cuco Martina (FC Twente), Oriol Romeu (Chelsea), Cedric Soares (Sporting CP), Maarten Stekelenburg (Fulham, Loan), Virgil van Dijk (Celtic)

Ronald Koeman says: "It's difficult because everybody is talking about that until the transfer window is closed. It's a crazy deadline because it's always difficult to start the season and you're not sure about the team you will have after the deadline."

STOKE

Image: Could Jon Walters be on his way out of Stoke?

Stoke manager Mark Hughes is insistent that he's happy with his squad having got good business done early and then pulled off a significant coup in persuading Xherdan Shaqiri to make the move to the Britannia. But a slow start to the season sees Stoke in the drop zone and with Walters the focus of interest from elsewhere, late activity cannot be ruled out.

Players in: Ibrahim Afellay (Barcelona), Moha El Ouriachi (Barcelona), Shay Given (Aston Villa), Jakob Haugaard (FC Midtyjlland), Glen Johnson (Liverpool), Joselu (Hannover 96), Sergio Molina (Real Madrid), Xherdan Shaqiri (Inter Milan), Dom Telford (Blackpool), Marko van Ginkel (Chelsea, Loan), Mark Waddington (Blackpool), Phillipp Wollscheid (Bayer Leverkusen)

Players out: Asmir Begovic (Chelsea), Robert Huth (Leicester), Jamie Ness (Scunthorpe), Steven Nzonzi (Sevilla), Wilson Palacios (Released), Thomas Sorensen (Released), Andy Wilkinson (Released)

Mark Hughes says: "Our stance [on Walters] hasn't changed. We still hope he's a part of what we are trying to do going forwards, but we'll have to wait and see. It has been a difficult week for Jon. Through no fault of his own, there has been a lot of noise around him."

SUNDERLAND

Fabio Borini of Liverpool celebrates
Image: Italian striker Borini has joined Sunderland from Liverpool

It's been a fraught start to the season for Dick Advocaat and his Sunderland side with the Dutchman open about his frustrations this summer. The Black Cats are propping up the Premier League table and supporters might feel all areas of the team need improving before the window closes. But with a significant wage bill, will owner Ellis Short free up the funds? The return of Borini, announced on Monday, could just be the start.

Players in: Fabio Borini (Liverpool), Sebastian Coates (Liverpool), Younes Kaboul (Tottenham), Jeremain Lens (Dynamo Kiev), Adam Matthews (Celtic), Yann M'Vila (Rubin Kazan, Loan), Ola Toivonen (Rennes, Loan), Santiago Vergini (Estudiantes), DeAndre (Tottenham, Loan)

Dick Advocaat says: "We had a big past here and I know a little bit about the salary of players - average players and lower than average players - and that's crazy. People who bought those kind of players for those transfer fees and gave them those salaries didn't care about the club. I can understand our owner when he thinks 'I spent a fortune' and now where are they playing or not playing?"

SWANSEA

Swansea City manager Garry Monk
Image: Garry Monk's Swansea have made a strong start to the season

Garry Monk's side go into the window in fine fettle after their weekend win over Manchester United and while Swansea are in a position to add players from a position of strength it wouldn't be a huge surprise if the Welsh side elect to stick with what they've got. Monk is said to be happy and any activity is likely to see players leave with Michu and Dwight Tiendalli believed to be available for transfer.

Players in: Andre Ayew (Marseille), Eder (Braga), Oliver McBurnie (Bradford), Kristoffer Nordfelt (Heerenveen), Franck Tabanou (St Etienne), Josh Vickers (Arsenal)

Players out: Modou Barrow (Blackburn, Loan), David Cornell (Oldham), Oliver Davies (Kilmarnock, Loan), Kenji Gorre (ADO Den Haag, loan), Jazz Richards (Fulham), Alan Tate (Released)

Garry Monk says: "I would never say never. I will keep an eye on it. Mostly because I am looking at the clubs we are coming up against to see which players are going where. But my phone is always on and I won't rule anything out. To be honest, I'll be glad when it's over."

TOTTENHAM

Saido Berahino of West Bromwich Albion reacts

Tottenham's late forays into the transfer market are an open secret and even after the acquisition of Son Heung-Min, Spurs supporters can expect ins and outs on deadline day. Aaron Lennon and Adebayor could well be among the departures and while interest in Saido Berahino has been rebuffed thus far, the hunt for a midfielder could prove more successful with Southampton's Wanyama and Zenit's Axel Witsel among their targets.

Players in: Toby Alderweireld (Atletico Madrid), Heung-Min Son (Bayer Leverkusen), Clinton N'Jie (Lyon), Kieran Trippier (Burnley), Kevin Wimmer (Cologne)

Mauricio Pochettino says: "I need to spend my time thinking how I improve my team and to be focused on my players. There are a lot of rumours around us with different players, different names. We need to be focused only on football and my job is on the pitch. I don't speak about other players at different clubs."

WATFORD

Watford manager Quique Sanchez Flores
Image: Watford manager Quique Sanchez Flores has been busy in the transfer market

Following a summer of upheaval at Vicarage Road, new boss Quique Flores is still working with a 30-man squad in training and is known to be anxious to move on some of the fringe players before the transfer deadline shuts. But with Watford still searching for that first win and having not scored since the opening day, further signings are expected too. They have agreed a season-long loan for Roma's forward Victor Ibarbo, according to Sky sources, and expect a busy Deadline Day otherwise.

Players in: Etienne Capoue (Tottenham), Jose Jurado (Spartak Moscow), Matej Vydra (Udinese), Steven Berghuis (AZ Alkmaar), Valon Behrami (Hamburg), Jose Holebas (Roma), Miguel Britos (Napoli), Allan Nyom (Udinese), Sebastian Prodl (Werder Bremen), Giedrius Arlauskis (Steaua Bucharest), Nathan Ake (Chelsea, Loan), Alessandro Diamanti (Guangzhou Evergrande, Loan), Obbi Oulare (Club Brugge), Victor Ibarbo (Cagliari, Loan), Adlene Guedioura (Crystal Palace)

Quique Flores says: "I hope everything gets solved - that the players we want to keep, we keep finally with us; the players who have to come, come; and the players who have to go, go to good teams and try to carry on with their career. But I am not happy. We are working very hard to incorporate a couple of players."

WEST BROM

Anders Lindegaard is set to leave Manchester United
Image: Manchester United's Anders Lindegaard has signed for West Brom

Despite the furore over Berahino's future and West Brom breaking their transfer record to bring Salomon Rondon to the Hawthorns, there's still a sense of unfinished business and manager Tony Pulis is counting on more activity before the window shuts. Anders Lindegaard has already signed from Manchester United, and more business in and out could be done.

Players in: Jonny Evans (Manchester United), Salomon Rondon (Zenit St Petersburg), James Chester (Hull), Rickie Lambert (Liverpool), James McClean (Wigan), Serge Gnabry (Arsenal, Loan), Anders Lindegaard (Man Utd)

Players out: Brown Ideye (Olympiakos), Graham Dorrans (Norwich), Youssuf Mulumbu (Norwich), Chris Baird (Derby), Alex Jones (Birmingham), Kemar Roofe (Oxford), Jason Davidson (Huddersfield), Bradley Garmston (Gillingham), Donervon Daniels (Wigan), Wesley Atkinson (Notts County), Liam O'Neill (Chesterfield)

Image: Tony Pulis could make late moves in the transfer window

Tony Pulis says: "Jonny is one of a few players we need to bring in. We're hopefully going to be busy right up to this deadline. We know where we're lacking and we need more to be competitive in what is a very competitive league this year. The chairman understands that."

With Andy Carroll and Enner Valencia injured and Diafra Sakho's enduring off-field problems, West Ham have brought in Nikica Jelavic on Deadline Day as an experienced option. Summer interest in Joey Barton suggests midfield is also an area that the Hammers are looking to improve – especially following Kevin Nolan's departure – and with Slaven Bilic on record in wanting to bring more players, expect deadline-day moves.

Players in: Dimitri Payet (Marseille), Angelo Ogbonna (Juventus), Pedro Obiang (Sampdoria), Carl Jenkinson (Arsenal, Loan), Manuel Lanzini (Al Jazira, Loan), Darren Randolph (Birmingham) Nikica Jelavic (Hull City), Alex Song (Barcelona, Loan), Victor Moses (Chelsea, Loan), Mikhail Antonio (Nottingham Forest)

Slaven Bilic says: "We need some more quality up front which at this moment, we don't have. We have two or three, but we need two or three more. We are still trying. We've got some great players to the club but also injuries to some of our crucial players, especially if we are talking up front. We need a few more."
