Ref Watch: Will Arsene Wenger face FA action? Were Chelsea and Tottenham lucky?

Fourth official Anthony Taylor (L) points Arsenal's French manager Arsene Wenger (R) to the tunnel after he was sent off by English referee Jonathan Moss (

Will Arsene Wenger be punished? Were Chelsea lucky? After a weekend brimming with controversy, Dermot Gallagher gives his take on the refereeing decisions.

Gallagher believes the FA will act on Wenger's behaviour after he pushed fourth official Anthony Taylor following Burnley's late penalty in Arsenal's 2-1 win on Super Sunday, while the Gunners were awarded a controversial penalty of their own.

Elsewhere, Gallagher analyses Tottenham's draw with Manchester City, and how Raheem Sterling should have been awarded a penalty at the Etihad, plus much more...

Andre Gray tackle on Shkodran Mustafi - Arsenal 2-1 Burnley

INCIDENT: Andre Gray shoves Shkodran Mustafi in the penalty area, but no penalty is awarded.

DERMOT'S VIEW: I think it's a penalty, whether the referee hasn't got the correct view, I don't know, but I think the assistant has got to help him out there. It's a penalty, I can't deny it.

Granit Xhaka shown red card

INCIDENT: Granit Xhaka is sent off for the second time in his short Arsenal career for a lunge on Steven Defour in the 65th minute.

Granit Xhaka is sent off during Arsenal's win over Burnley

DERMOT'S VIEW: Reputations count for nothing, but this is just a very bad tackle. In the current climate you cannot make a tackle like this. He's gone two-footed, off the ground, led with his studs. That challenge is just not acceptable now, and every referee is going to send you off for that. I think because Jon Moss took the time to get it right, everybody bought into it a lot more.

Ref Watch: Arsenal’s controversial penalty

DERMOT'S VIEW: I think what upset Arsene Wenger is the time it came in the game. Is there any debate? Not for me. It's a clumsy tackle. he's made it without thinking, and it's a penalty. It's 90+3 minutes, maybe they thought they had the win and it has boiled over, but it's a penalty.

Arsene Wenger push on Anthony Taylor

INCIDENT: The Arsenal manager was sent to the stands by Moss for complaining following the decision to award Burnley a penalty. Wenger had a heated exchange with fourth official Anthony Taylor before walking to stand in the tunnel, and was caught on camera pushing the fourth official before stewards intervened.

DERMOT'S VIEW: He's got to go away from being able to see from that area, that's what Anthony is saying to him. It's not a good reaction, one that I'm sure will be followed up by the FA. But I must say that the steward has done well there to step in between them.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger appeared to push fourth official Anthony Taylor

Wenger was asked to go away, but he stood his ground and didn't move, that's why this is different. It's always nice to hear somebody apologise, as Wenger has. He said quite rightly afterwards that he shouldn't have opened his mouth.

Arsenal awarded last-gasp penalty to win it

INCIDENT: With seconds remaining, Moss penalised Ben Mee's high boot on Laurent Koscielny - who appeared offside from the initial cross - handing Alexis Sanchez the chance to win it.

DERMOT'S VIEW: I think there's two decisions. The first one, the referee has got right, his boot is too high, even though Koscielny ducks. It has to be a penalty.

Ref Watch: Burnley's controversial penalty

What was unfortunate for Jon Moss is that he's got the right decision in my eyes, and when that ball is played in the assistant hasn't made the right decision because Koscielny is offside. I feel sorry for the assistants because they have a tough job, but I think that's one of the easier decisions because Koscielny is the first player in line with him. For whatever reason, he didn't give offside.

Leroy Sane's handball - Man City 2-2 Tottenham

INCIDENT: After Hugo Lloris failed to clear the ball with a diving header outside the area, the Frenchman deflected the ball onto Leroy Sane's hand before the Man City man scored into the empty net.

Hugo Lloris produced two costly errors for Spurs, but should Leroy Sane have been penalised for handball?

DERMOT'S VIEW: It strikes his hand, but it has to be deliberate for it to be penalised, and when you see how close he is to the goalkeeper, I don't think he has any intention to handle the ball. It has just hit him.

It's impossible for the referee to give, however, because Sane's body shields the view.

Kyle Walker's push on Raheem Sterling

INCIDENT: As Raheem Sterling raced through on goal, Kyle Walker pushes the City man on the shoulder from behind, putting him off balance before a weak shot went straight at Lloris.

Was Raheem Sterling fouled by Kyle Walker inside the area? Dermot thinks so...

DERMOT'S VIEW: It should be a penalty and a red card. This raises a few more issues. We don't want to encourage players to go down, but in that instance, what we have to do in return is say: "OK, he didn't go down, but he's clearly being shoved off balance and it's a penalty."

Hull unlucky not to receive penalty - Chelsea 2-0 Hull

INCIDENT: With the score at 1-0 to Chelsea in the second half, Marcos Alonso kicks the back of Abel Hernandez's heel in the penalty area after miscuing a clearance. No penalty is given by the officials, despite the incident occurring in front of the linesman.

Marcos Alonso was lucky not to give away a penalty for this challenge on Abel Hernandez

DERMOT'S VIEW: Alonso is lucky. Very, very lucky. And I think he knows it too, his reaction tells it. It just wasn't a wise decision to make. He has trod on his heel, and again it's one that I thought the assistant could have seen, rather than the referee.

Should Bournemouth have played on? - Bournemouth 2-2 Watford

INCIDENT: With Watford 2-1 up and Cherries probing, an injured Christian Kabasele decided to lie on the floor and signal to the bench. As it wasn't a head injury, Bournemouth played on, Andrew Surman picked out Benik Afobe, who moved into the space in behind Kabasele before scoring.

DERMOT'S VIEW: It's interesting because he just goes down, the referee is convinced it's not a head injury, so the play goes on. The difficulty there is, with him going down with nobody near him, you may question if he has fainted, passed out, nobody knew. But the player was moving and the referee was quite right to play on.
