Striker's chances look better under new boss

Czech striker Milan Baros looks likely to stay at French champions Lyon. The much travelled forward spent the second half of last season on loan at Portsmouth, with a view to a permanent deal. But after helping Pompey win the FA Cup he returned to parent club Lyon where he now expects to stay. Asked if Baros would start the new season at Lyon, his agent Pavel Paskato told deniksport.cz: "I think so, yes.

Satisfied there

"He is satisfied there and even the coach (Claude Puel) said 'Milan is staying'. "We decided for the loan at Portsmouth only with regard to the Euro 2008 finals." The 26-year-old joined the French champions in January 2007 from Aston Villa, where he was re-united with Gerard Houllier, his former boss at Liverpool. But following the departure of Houllier, he played significantly less under new manager Alain Perrin, leading to his loan spell at Pompey. But his Lyon career could now be given a new lease of life following the arrival of Puel as boss.
