Garry Monk says Swansea playing well despite lean run

Garry Monk says it is business as usual at Swansea despite a run of three games without a win.

This week's Capital One Cup exit at Championship Hull came on the back of defeat at Watford and a goalless home draw with Everton.

Southampton are next up, and ahead of the trip to St Mary's, Monk was quick to point out City have been beaten just once in the Premier League despite early-season games against Chelsea and Manchester United.

"We always react well when we get setbacks," he said. "We did that well against Everton last weekend and I think it was a really good point in the end and a fair result.

"But we've had one league defeat since we came back for pre-season and we're playing well and doing the right things.

"The effort and commitment is there and we're creating lots of good chances - we were the better side again in midweek against Hull and should have won.

"We've had good performances apart from at Watford, and I want us to continue with the same attitude and determination that we're showing right now."

Southampton have won just one of their six league games, but Monk said: "I don't think they're struggling - I disagree with that.

"Because they started so well last season and flew so high I think, similar to ourselves, expectations are much higher now. You're expected to win every single game.

"We are two similar teams who are looking to do well again this year and I think it will be pretty even."
