The Football Association has asked Arsene Wenger to explain his recent comments on doping in football, according to Sky sources.
The Arsenal manager referred to the subject during a wide-ranging interview with L'Equipe Sport and Style, published earlier this month, in which he said he had never given any of his players a performance-enhancing injection.
Wenger made no specific accusations but went on to say: "I've played against a lot of teams that were not in this state of mind."
It is understood the FA is interested in any further information the Frenchman may be able to provide.
Wenger has in the past called for stricter testing to catch out drug cheats, and his recent comments were made against the backdrop of allegations Russia ran a state-sponsored doping programme for its athletes.
A co-author of that report, former World Anti-Doping Agency chief Dick Pound, warned that other sports could eventually be implicated.
Arsenal have recent experience of the issue within football: in September, the Gunners lost a Champions League game to Dinamo Zagreb, whose midfielder Arijan Ademi later failed a drugs test.
