Bournemouth striker Yann Kermorgant is having a medical ahead of a move to Reading, according to Sky sources.

It is understood discussions between the clubs over a transfer for the 34-year-old began several days ago and have advanced smoothly.

Kermorgant, who joined Bournemouth from Charlton in January 2014, has struggled to break into the Cherries' first-team this season despite a long-term injury to first choice Callum Wilson.

And he would see his way blocked even further by the recent signing of Wolves' striker Benik Afobe.

Kermorgant has not started in the Premier League this season, making five substitute appearances instead, but he started in the recent FA Cup third-round win over Birmingham City.

The Frenchman began his career at Reims as a youth before Leicester picked him up on a free transfer in 2009.

Kermorgant then spent a year with Arles-Avignon before joining Charlton in 2011 and scoring 32 goals in 96 appearances for the club.
