Roberto Martinez praised the professionalism of his Everton players after they eased to a place in the fifth round of the FA Cup at Carlisle.
First-half goals from Arouna Kone and Aaron Lennon gave them a comfortable early lead before another after the break from Ross Barkley sealed a 3-0 win.
The result came after a difficult week for Everton which saw them beaten in the Premier League by Swansea then eliminated from the Capital One Cup in the semi-finals by Manchester City.
Martinez was happy with the way his team responded to those setbacks and how they handled Sky Bet League 2 opponents who went into the tie hopeful of an upset.
He told evertonfc.com: "I am very pleased. We knew these games can become very complicated and difficult - and we saw a Carlisle side who were very committed in what they were trying to do.
"I thought we dealt with that with great professionalism. We were effective in front of goal from the start and that allowed us to control things from there.
"It was a great footballing occasion. The fourth round of the FA Cup will always bring up ties like this.
"I was pleased with the way we coped with it and kept the clean sheet against a side who like to put the ball in the box a lot. Overall, it was a well-worked performance."
Barkley's goal was his 11th of the season for Everton and England and he was withdrawn in the closing stages of the match.
As he came off to be replaced by Darron Gibson, he was given a rousing reception from both sets of supporters - something appreciated by Martinez.
He added: "It was good to see the Carlisle fans recognise Ross. I think people are starting to appreciate what an incredible English talent we are developing.
"Ross is a stylish footballer - any football fan would love to watch his skill and pay the price of their ticket to watch a footballer like him."
Curle, whose side were the lowest-ranked team left in the competition, said: "Giving a Premier League side a two-goal start was not the ideal scenario, but credit to the players - they didn't melt or fold.
"And you have to say, Everton were fantastic."
A bumper crowd turned out for what was only Carlisle's second game back at their own stadium since last month's devastating floods, which had left the pitch at that time completely under water.
And Curle added: "A lot of credit has to go to a lot of people behind the scenes who worked to get this fixture on. To have 17,000 people inside Brunton Park was phenomenal.
"I think it was only 57 or 58 days ago that the place was decimated because of the disaster of the flood, so to be hosting football - and hosting Everton - here was excellent."
