Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini is hoping to rekindle his goalscoring form and propel Louis Van Gaal's side to a top-four finish.

Fellaini was a regular scorer for Everton for whom he netted 40 goals in 166 appearances, but he has struggled to find the net this season, scoring twice for a goal-shy United side.

Speaking to the United Review, the Belgium international, who has been playing a slightly deeper central midfield position for United, revealed he wants to match or better his tally of seven goals last season.

"It's always good to score but, this season, I have missed a lot," he said. "I have created a lot of chances but I have always hit the post or there were great saves from the goalkeepers.

"Sometimes it is luck and I hope it turns. I hope to score seven goals or more again."

When asked if he specifically works on his back-post headers, Fellaini revealed that assistant manager - and club legend - Ryan Giggs helps him practice in training.

"Yes, sometimes we do that in training and sometimes with Giggsy as well as the other players," he added. "They cross the ball for me to finish off."

The 28-year-old last scored for United against Bournemouth in December but does not believe he is too far away from finding the net again.

"I know it is coming because, OK, the luck can resolve itself," he said. "In the last few games, I've had the chance to score but the keeper is there or he makes a great save.
