West Ham are set to hold talks with Torino about signing centre-back Nikola Maksimovic, according to Sky in Italy.
The Hammers are interested in the 24-year-old and are understood to have already made a contract offer to his representative.
They have signalled their intention to offer Maksimovic - a Serbia international with nine caps - a four-year contract worth £2m per year.
Torino's fellow Serie A side Napoli have also been in discussions over a deal for Maksimovic, but negotiations have stalled after Torino rejected their latest bid.
This has encouraged West Ham to seize their chance to approach the highly-rated defender, who joined the Italian club from Red Star Belgrade in 2013.
West Ham are keen to move quickly to improve their squad. Last month, according to Sky sources, they were discussing potential striker targets including Christian Benteke, Michy Batshuayi and Alexandre Lacazette.
