Adam Lallana will miss England's World Cup Qualifiers against Malta and Slovenia after going off injured in Liverpool's win over Swansea.
The Liverpool midfielder was treated by the club's physio after injuring his groin while being caught in possession in the Sky Sports lunchtime kick-off at the Liberty Stadium.
Jurgen Klopp's side had just gone a goal down after Leroy Fer bundled over a knockdown from Swansea's record-signing Borja Baston, and the Reds suffered a further setback as Lallana headed down the tunnel before the break in need of further medical attention.
They came back to win 2-1, however, thanks to goals from Roberto Firmino and James Milner.
Klopp confirmed after the game to Sky Sports that Lallana would not be available for England's two upcoming fixtures.
The German also revealed Dejan Lovren picked up a groin injury in the final moments of their fourth successive Premier League win.
"Adam felt it, tried it again and it didn't work," Klopp said. "In this moment they [Lallana and Lovren] have no chance for the national teams.
"But hopefully 15 or 16 days should be enough to bring them back on the pitch. Things like this happen - there was no sign of it in the week.
"The pitch was a little bit wet, of course, so things like this can happen. It's not too nice but nothing else."
Lallana, who was replaced by fellow England team-mate Daniel Sturridge, previously had to withdraw from an international squad in March last year due to a groin injury.
The 28-year-old scored his first goal for the national team in Sam Allardyce's only game in charge in September, firing in a late winner against Slovakia in England's first World Cup Qualifier.
Caretaker manager Gareth Southgate will name a 23-man squad for the upcoming games against Malta and Slovenia, and has already confirmed Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney will remain as captain.
