Jamie Carragher praised Everton midfielder Tom Davies' maturity after his man-of-the-match-performance in his side’s 4-0 win over Manchester City.

Davies put in an impressive display in the middle of the park, playing a crucial part in Everton’s opener before scoring his side’s third goal.

And Carragher was full of praise for the 18-year-old.

“We spoke about him at Hull when he came on to replace Gareth Barry on that Friday night and he brought that extra energy into midfield,” Carragher said on Super Sunday.

“For 18, and it showed in his interview as well, you can see the maturity in his game and the way he plays.

When asked whether it was a brave decision from Ronald Koeman to start Davies, Carragher added: “It was. Morgan Schneiderlin has come in as well but he now might be thinking he’s made a mistake seeing this performance.”
