Leicester City are in talks with Udinese to sign Mali centre-back Molla Wague on loan, according to Sky sources.
The Foxes have been keen to strengthen in defence this month and they are close to landing the 25-year-old.
Wague has been part of Mali's squad at the Africa Cup of Nations, where they were knockout at the group stage.
He joined Udinese from French Ligue 1 club Caen in 2014 and has made 37 appearances for the Italian club.
However, Wague has played only five times in Serie A this season - one less than he has played for Mali in the same period.
Reports in Belgium over the weekend claimed Leicester failed with an effort to sign Anderlecht defender Kara Mbodji.
The Foxes have so far signed Wilfred Ndidi from Belgium club Genk this month, and have angered Leonardo Ulloa by denying him a move away from the King Power Stadium.
