Five of the best Premier League stats to tell your mates

Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic applauds as he leaves the pitch at the end of the Premier League match against Newcastle United

Premier League action returned on Saturday after the international break and there was plenty of entertainment in the eight matches.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Paul Pogba returned for Manchester United, we saw the fastest Premier League goal of the season so far, as well as the first hat-trick by an Englishman.

Here, we pick out five of the best stats from the day's games…

Zlatan is back

After a two-month lay-off of his own, Pogba produced the man-of-the-match display in Manchester United's 4-1 win over Newcastle, but it was the return of Ibrahimovic that captured the supporters' imagination as the 35-year-old striker came off the bench for the home side.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic made his first Premier League appearance in 216 days in Manchester United's win over Newcastle United

It was the Swede's first Premier League appearance for 216 days, having not featured in the competition since facing Chelsea in April. Ibrahimovic almost marked his return from his cruciate ligament injury with a goal - his sweetly-struck volley being saved well at the near post by Rob Elliot.

Silva service

United remain eight points behind Premier League leaders Manchester City after Pep Guardiola's team won 2-0 at Leicester, where there was yet another assist for David Silva. The City midfielder had a hand in Gabriel Jesus's opening goal of the game just before the break.

David Silva provided his 72nd Premier League assist for Manchester City in their win at Leicester City

It was Silva's eighth assist of the Premier League season so far, eclipsing his tally from last year only 12 games into the campaign. But more than that, it was also his 72nd Premier League assist in a Manchester City shirt. No other player in the competition has provided as many assists in that time.

Morata magic

Chelsea heaped the pressure on struggling West Brom boss Tony Pulis as they cruised to a 4-0 win at the Hawthorns with Alvaro Morata and Eden Hazard in fine form. Morata slotted home for the opening goal before flicking the ball around the corner to help Hazard double the lead soon after.

Alvaro Morata now has eight goals and four assists in his first 11 Premier League games for Chelsea

Morata's goal and assist mean that he now has eight of the former and four of the latter since joining Chelsea in the summer. That tally of 12 from his first 11 Premier League games is a record by any Chelsea player in the competition's history.

Speedy McArthur

Crystal Palace remain rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table after being held to a 2-2 draw with Everton at Selhurst Park but Roy Hodgson's team could hardly have wished for a better start. James McArthur gave them the lead after only 51 seconds of the match - the fastest goal in the Premier League this season.

Wilson's hat-trick

Callum Wilson did not get off the mark quite that quickly in Bournemouth's 4-0 win over Huddersfield but he still managed to score three times for the Cherries to walk away with the match-ball. The striker became the first Englishman to score a Premier League hat-trick so far this season.
