Paul Clement says Swansea's 4-0 defeat against Manchester City was really tough to watch at times but admits they are one of the best sides he's ever come across

Paul Clement has hailed Manchester City as "one of the best sides I’ve ever come across" after they beat his Swansea side on Wednesday.

The Swans remained bottom of the Premier League after the 4-0 defeat at the Liberty Stadium, which saw Pep Guardiola's side win a record-breaking 15th successive league game.

Clement was full of praise for the visitors following the match - although admitted it was a hard watch from his point of view - and says he cannot see another side winning the Premier League title this season.

"It was really tough to watch at times. I think if you're a player, staff member or fan of Man City, it must be a joy to watch that team play but we're on the wrong end of a really dominant performance by them," he told Sky Sports.

"They totally deserved the victory and at times that scoreline could've run higher, but we did have a couple of opportunities ourselves. It was a very good display from them and I have to say, one of the best sides I've ever come across.

They're a team full of confidence, they've racked up a lot of wins and opened up a gap at the top of the table. They play some great football, have great technicians and athletes all over the pitch. They play the game really intelligently and I can't see it being anyone else but them as champions this season."

Despite the defeat, Clement does not believe that the game will be detrimental to their survival, and they must focus on upcoming matches against teams around them.

"It was a difficult evening but these are not the games that will define our season. We need to better against the teams in and around us," he added.

"We've got an important couple of games coming up. We have to try and get something against Everton away and then a very important game on the 23rd when we have to and get points from Crystal Palace here at home.

"We'll go back to what we did against West Brom. We showed a real fighting spirit and got the three points. It was always going to be a difficult game tonight, I would like to have run it closer but they're a fantastic side and made it very difficult for us.

"We're focused on games that are realistically winnable for us and do our best in those games."
