Tottenham goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes believes he will soon show his true ability after overcoming a hip injury.
The error-prone shot-stopper has endured a difficult start to his White Hart Lane career since arriving in England in a £7.8million move from PSV Eindhoven.
But the Brazilian has put the shaky opening to his days in North London down to a hip injury and, now that he is almost fully recovered, he is pleased with his form.
Gomes has kept clean sheets in back-to-back games, against Blackburn and NEC Nijmegen, and he hopes for more of the same against Everton this weekend.
"My injury is now better," Gomes said. "That was a big problem but it is much better now.
"It gives you more confidence as a goalkeeper because when every ball came I was thinking whether I should go or stay because the injury was a problem.
"I am happy about the last two games. Clean sheets are very important for goalkeepers.
"I am very strong in my heart and that helped so much.
"It's not an excuse but the team did not start well this season and that is not good for the goalkeeper or for anyone.
"For goalkeepers it is a more difficult situation. I know I'm a good goalkeeper. The time now is very important for me and the people who have helped me so much are very important."
Gomes has also thanked Harry Redknapp for his backing since he arrived as manager in October.
"Every time he (Redknapp) said, 'I believe in you, I know you well and watched many games in Holland and in the Champions League'," Gomes added.
"This was very important for me. I'm very happy here and know I had a bad time - I started well, after my injury it was bad but now it is good again and I have confidence."
