Ross Turnbull has urged his Middlesbrough team-mates to bounce back from the defeat by Fulham in Boxing Day's home game against Everton.
Boro have been in poor form of late and lost 3-0 at Craven Cottage on Saturday to leave them without a win in six games.
They are currently 14th in the Premier League table and just two points above the relegation zone, but Turnbull is staying positive.
He is looking up rather than down and believes Boro can break back into the top half with a bit more consistency.
Turnbull realises the importance of returning to winning ways as soon as possible and hopes the supporters can play their part when Everton travel to The Riverside.
"If we could pick up three points on Boxing Day we would get closer towards them so it is an important game for us," the goalkeeper told Sky Sports News.
"It is a home game and it is up to us to put on a show for the fans, especially after the defeat to Fulham.
"Hopefully it will be a full crowd and they will get behind us, and hopefully we will get three points for them.
"We have played really well at times and we haven't at other times so it is getting that consistency I suppose.
"I think we are only three points off eighth so it is not all doom and gloom. We just want to look forward and not look behind us."
