Sunderland star Kieran Richardson is confident of being fit for this weekend's Tees-Wear derby with Middlesbrough.
Richardson hobbled off with an ankle injury during Saturday's 2-1 FA Cup win over Bolton after a clash with Kevin Nolan.
The former Manchester United midfielder was regarded as a doubt for the trip to the Riverside, but he is hopeful of recovering in time to face Middlesbrough.
"I would be gutted to miss the derby, so hopefully I will have recovered for that game," Richardson told the Sunderland Echo.
"The knock was a very painful one.
"I don't know how serious I thought it was, but Nolan did not get anywhere near the ball and the kick turned my ankle right over.
"I put ice on it in the dressing room and it was still painful after the game, but I feel pretty confident I will be OK for the Boro game.
"I am enjoying my football and don't want to miss any games."
