Bolton manager Gary Megson has criticised his former club West Brom for accusing him of unsettling midfielder James Morrison.
Megson, who managed the Baggies from 2000-2004, was disappointed that his West Brom counterpart Tony Mowbray declared that he was trying to disrupt his 22-year-old by going public with his bid.
Morrison has been a consistent performer in a side that have found themselves at the bottom of the Premier League for most of the campaign.
His performances prompted the Bolton boss to, according to sources in the Midlands, launch a £3million bid for the former Middlesbrough man.
But Megson has now admitted that he has given up any chance of signing the midfielder.
"There's a way of doing business, how it is supposed to be done, by the book then there is the reality," he told the Bolton News.
"We followed the protocol that was set when Abdoulaye Meite left this place for West Brom in the summer."
