Striker upset at swap speculation

Middlesbrough striker Mido has reacted angrily to news that he was being lined up for a move to Newcastle without his knowledge. It is believed that Boro boss Gareth Southgate and Newcastle's executive director Dennis Wise attempted to broker a swap with Mido and Alan Smith. Smith is understood to be shocked and angered at the claims and he has already held clear-the-air talks with Newcastle. Now Mido has confirmed he has let Southgate know his feelings about the situation. "I'm very angry no one informed me of the ongoing talks before today, and I made sure manager Gareth Southgate knows how I feel," Mido told FilGoal. "I was told that Newcastle made an offer to buy me, and that Middlesbrough asked for Alan Smith as part of the deal taking me to St James' Park."

Undecided

Mido insists that he has not told the club he wants to leave this month. "I still haven't made up my mind about moving," he continued. "I've a lot of respect for the Middlesbrough fans. They've always supported me and I want to stay and repay their faith in me."
