Blackburn Rovers manager Sam Allardyce has revealed that the club have not received any fresh bids for star striker Roque Santa Cruz.
The Paraguay international is a target of Manchester City boss Mark Hughes, who has had two bids rejected for the player during the January transfer window.
Rovers are understood to value Santa Cruz at £25million, but City have yet to meet that valuation as they ponder other targets such as West Ham's Craig Bellamy.
And Allardyce has told Sky Sports News that he has not heard from City - who are also chasing a world-record deal for AC Milan ace Kaka - since rejecting a second offer from their Premier League rivals.
"No not at moment," said Allardyce when asked if Blackburn have received any new bids for Santa Cruz.
"Everything has gone quiet over the last few days.
"I came here with the understanding we didn't have to sell Roque so that is why I don't particularly want to sell him."
Santa Cruz is expected to return to action when Blackburn welcome Newcastle to Ewood Park on Saturday following a four-match calf strain.
And Allardyce is delighted to be able to call on the 27-year-old's qualities as the Rovers chief prepares to take on his former club.
"I have seen him play a lot and watched him through the summer," added Allardyce - who took over at Ewood Park in December.
"I know what a quality player he is and I'm glad to have him back with the squad."
