Portsmouth manager Tony Adams has revealed he is close to adding to his squad, but a deal for Juventus midfielder Christian Poulsen is 'way down the line'.
On Tuesday, Adams landed Jermaine Pennant from Liverpool on loan, and he is keen to further bolster his side following the big-money departures of Lassana Diarra and Jermaine Defoe.
Pompey have been linked with numerous targets, and Adams is confident of bringing in new faces before the end of the week.
"I don't like speaking about other players but I will just say that it [the Poulsen deal] is way down the line," he said. "We could have a few new recruits before the weekend, though.
"There are areas of concern - that is obvious from the amount of centre-backs we are playing in midfield at the moment. That's an area that needs reinforcing.
"There are a lot of players out there I would love to have, too. The practicality, the finance and the availability I'm not so sure about.
"I'm not panicking, though. A lot of work has been done and there are players on the list.
"I've looked at over 100 players since December. I've got the ones I want. My work is done really.
"Now it's down to whether we can get the right deal for these guys."
