Kenwyne Jones insists he had no problem committing his long-term future to Sunderland after being linked with Spurs.
The Trinidad & Tobago ace recently ended speculation surrounding his future after putting pen-to-paper on a lucrative four-and-a-half year deal at the Stadium of Light.
Jones has stated he would never have turned his back on Ricky Sbragia's side after being rewarded for his impressive return to form following a serious knee injury.
"Of course, the club helping me contributed to me staying," he told The Sun on landing a new deal. "You just don't want to be a b*****d.
"It's not a good thing to show disloyalty sometimes. Apart from that, Sunderland is a big club. It has a lot of potential.
"The manager has ambition, as have the chairman and the owner. I choose to be part of that and, hopefully, that will materialise.
"You never know what tomorrow will bring. One day you can be playing and then...
"A prime example is when Trinidad & Tobago played England last June and I got injured after seven minutes and I was out for a while.
"Now I'm just thankful to be playing again. Whatever comes after that will come."
