Striker Michael Chopra has beaten the transfer deadline to complete his return to Cardiff from Sunderland.
Chopra has signed an initial loan deal until the end of the season with an agreement in place to make the move permanent in the summer.
The former Newcastle striker moved to Sunderland for a fee of £5million in the summer of 2007 but was unable to establish himself in the Black Cats' first-team squad under former boss Roy Keane.
He enjoyed a productive loan spell at Ninian Park earlier in the season, scoring five goals in 10 Championship starts.
Chopra returned to the Stadium of Light when his loan expired at the start of January and he featured in recent weeks under new manager Ricky Sbragia.
But the Bluebirds have managed to strike a deal with the North East club and Chopra sealed his move just minutes before Monday's 5pm deadline.
The striker becomes manager Dave Jones' third signing of the transfer window following the arrivals of Chris Burke and Quincy Owusu-Abeyie.
