Middlesbrough keeper Brad Jones plans to grab his first-team chance with both hands after being restored in goal.
Jones had been expected to take over the mantle of Boro's first-choice goalkeeper following the departure of Mark Schwarzer in the summer.
But after picking up an injury just two games into the season, the Australian has had to watch on as understudy Ross Turnbull made the position his own.
However, a recent mistake-strewn performance from Turnbull earned Jones his recall to the starting-line up - faith that he repaid with a man-of-the-match display between the sticks.
"The manager decided to change it and obviously I'm delighted to be back in the team," Jones told Middlesbrough's
official website.
Friendly competition
"I'm not the best sub in the world, I'm a moody so-and-so at times, but Ross has done really well when he has come in.
"Obviously we both want to play but there's only one position. He had a run and he's done very well indeed - he hasn't done himself any harm whatsoever."
Jones may be keen to praise his rival in goal, but the 26-year-old is hoping that Turnbull won't be making too many more appearances in goal during the campaign.
"I'm determined to keep myself there. What I don't want is another injury, so touch wood I'll be all right now," he added.
"There is nothing personal between us, we're still good mates and we'll just continue to do what we've been doing, which is pushing each other every day in training."
