Everton's FA Cup hero Dan Gosling had a premonition that he would score against Liverpool prior to his match-winning contribution on Wednesday night.
The talented teenager, 19 on Monday, broke 10-man Liverpool's resolve in the 118th minute of what was an otherwise unremarkable cup tie when he bent a clever effort, which belied his years, beyond Jose Reina.
While such an impact will see Gosling's name etched in derby day folklore, it would seem the ebullient starlet believes it was all preordained.
"All week I had been saying to people that if I got on, I was going to score," said Gosling.
"Honestly, I always know that if I'm on the pitch, I'll get a chance."
All a blur
Gosling, who operates down the right-hand side, moved to Goodison Park from Plymouth Argyle having made his debut as a precociously talented 16-year-old at Home Park.
In recent weeks, largely thanks to a congested treatment room, Gosling has broken into David Moyes' first team and it is an experience he is relishing.
"It's all a bit blurry at the minute but the feeling I have is absolutely unbelievable," he added.
"I just try to get into those positions and with the quality of players here, you know there is always a possibility that something will pop up.
"We've got a good chance of progressing and, hopefully winning something."
