Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger rates Manuel Almunia among the best goalkeepers in the Premier League and believes the Spaniard does not receive the credit he deserves.
The former Celta Vigo player has not conceded a goal in four successive games in all competitions and has kept 15 clean sheets this season.
Wenger feels that form places Almunia in the same bracket as the likes of Chelsea's Petr Cech, Manchester United's Edwin van der Sar and Manchester City's Shay Given, who are regularly hailed as among the best goalkeepers in Europe.
But the Gunners manager feels that his No.1 fails to be recognised as one of the most reliable shot-stoppers in England's top flight.
"Manuel does not get as much credit as he deserves," Wenger said ahead of Saturday's home meeting with Fulham, where his side are looking for revenge following a 1-0 defeat at Craven Cottage in August.
"He has had a good season and had maybe one difficult game at Tottenham, and the fans are less forgiving for a game like that, than for any other game.
"I rate him very highly. We have two world-class goalkeepers, Lukasz Fabianski and him.
"I rate Almunia as highly as Cech, Van der Sar and Given because if you keep clean sheets you cannot do much better."
